World Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

• 1/3 cup shortening
• 1/3 cup butter
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 1/2 cups flour
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
• 1 cup chocolate chips

Recipe

• 1 in a large bowl, mix together the shortening, butter, sugar and brown sugar, using an electric mixture.
• 2 add the egg and vanilla and mix until creamy.
• 3 in a small bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda and salt.
• 4 add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture and mix thoroughly.
• 5 add the chocolate chips and nuts and mix well.
• 6 preheat oven to 375 degrees. lightly grease 2 baking sheets.
• 7 drop dough with a large tablespoon (should be the size of a golf ball.) allow plenty of space for the cookies to spread out as they bake.
• 8 bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 375 degrees.
