Silver Palate Molasses Cookies

Total Time: 15 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 12 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Recipe

  • 1 preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 melt the butter (i just put it in the microwave), and add sugar and molasses.
  • 3 lightly beat the egg (or use 1/4 cup eggbeaters) and add to the butter mixture, and blend well.
  • 4 sift the dry ingredients together, and add to the butter mixture(i use king arthur flour whole wheat--it has the same texture of all-purpose).
  • 5 it will look wet.
  • 6 line a cookie sheet with foil.
  • 7 drop the batter by tablespoons onto the foil, 3 inches apart.
  • 8 bake 8-10 minutes, until the cookes darken.
  • 9 remove foil from cookie sheet, and let the cookies cool on the foil.

Vanilla Dreams

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking ammonia
  • 1/4 cup coarse crystallized sugar

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 300 degrees. lightly grease two baking sheets.
  • 2 beat together the sugar, butter, salt and vanilla.
  • 3 add the flour and baker's ammonia and beat for up to 5 minutes, until the dough comes together. it will seem quite dry at first, but keep beating, eventually it will clump up and become cohesive.
  • 4 break off pieces of dough about the size of a large gumball. roll them into balls, then roll them in coarse sugar.
  • 5 put them on the prepared baking sheets, and use the bottom of a glass to flatten them to about 1/4" thick.
  • 6 bake the cookies for 25 to 30 minutes, until they are a very light golden brown around the edges.
  • 7 remove them from oven and transfer to a rack to cool.

Vanilla Kissable Cookies

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/3 cups hershey kissables (candy coated mini kisses)

Recipe

  • 1 beat the first 6 ingredients until fluffy.
  • 2 add the next 3 ingredients, and mix well.
  • 3 then stir in kissables.
  • 4 drop tsps of dough onto cookie sheet, and flatten with clean fingers or a fork. bake at 350 for 12-14 minutes.
  • 5 remove and cool on wire rack.

Vanilla Kranse (vanilla Wreaths)

Ingredients

  • 18 ounces plain flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 13 ounces butter
  • 9 ounces sugar
  • 4 ounces blanched almonds, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 3 drops vanilla essence

Recipe

  • 1 work all ingredients together and let the dough stand for 20 minutes, in a cool place.
  • 2 put dough into a pastry bag or cloth and press/roll dough into long thin rolls.
  • 3 cut rolls into equal sized pieces (about 5-6 inches long) and on a well-greased cookie sheet, form each piece into a small ring slightly overlapping the cut ends.
  • 4 bake in a fairly hot (400°f, 200°c, gm 6) oven for 10 minutes or until light brown.

Warm Peanut Butter Sauce (for Ice Cream)

  • 4 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons 2% low-fat milk (whatever you have on hand is fine)

Recipe

  • 1 mix peanut butter and honey in a microwave safe container (i used a small glass measuring cup).
  • 2 microwave on 50% power for 30 seconds.
  • 3 stir until completely mixed, microwaving for another 15 seconds if not warm enough.
  • 4 add milk and stir (it probably won't all come together at this point).
  • 5 microwave again for 15-30 seconds on 50% power.
  • 6 stir until smooth.
  • 7 pour over your favorite ice cream, cookies, muffins -- whatever! :).
  • 8 enjoy!

Tilapia In A Foil Boat #rsc

  • 24 ounces tilapia fillets
  • 20 cherry tomatoes, cut in half
  • 16 green olives, chopped
  • 1 small sweet onion, finely chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, small chopped
  • 1/2 cup cooked black beans
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped
  • 1/8 teaspoon anchovy paste or 1/8 teaspoon crushed anchovy
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh oregano, finely chopped

  • 3 ears fresh corn, boil 5 min and remove corn from cob

  • 1 boil the corn for 5 minutes and remove from the cob.
  • 2 place all prepared ingredients but tilapia in a pan and cook for 6 minutes.
  • 3 put fish filets in bottom of the foil boat and evenly spread the ingredients from the pan over fish. put on cookie sheet cover with foil and bake at 350 for 7-9 minutes.serv hot.

  • 125 g unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
  • 1/3 cup custard powder
  • 3/4 cup plain flour
  • 3/4 cup self-rising flour
  • 40 g unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup icing sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 180°c brush two 32 x 28cm biscuit trays with melted butter. line base with paper; grease paper.
  • 2 using electric beaters, beat butter and sugar in a small mixing bowl until mixture is light and creamy. add th egg yolks one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. add vanilla essence; beat until combined.
  • 3 transfer mixture to a large mixing bowl. using a metal spoon, fold in sifted custard powder and flours. stir until ingredients are just combined and the mixture is almost smooth. press mixture together with fingertips to form a smooth dough.
  • 4 roll 1 level teaspoon of mixture at a time into bowls. arrange on prepared trays about 5cm apart. flatten lightly with base of glass to 2.5cm rounds. bake 12 minutes or until biscuits are golden.
  • 5 to make vanilla cream:.
  • 6 beat butter and essence in a small bowl with a wooden spoon until smooth. add sugar and milk gradually, stir until well combined and mixture is smooth.
  • 7 stand biscuits on trays for 5 mins, transfer to a wire rack to cool. spread half the biscuits with filling and sandwich together with remaining biscuits. if you like you can dust biscuits with icing sugar as well.
  • 8 keeps for up to 2 days in an airtight container.

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400*.
  • 2 cream together butter, shortening, sugar, egg and the vanilla. blend in the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt.
  • 3 mix the sugar and cinnamon for the rolling mixture in a small bowl.
  • 4 shape rounded spoonfuls of dough into balls and roll the balls in the mixture. place two inches apart on un-greased baking sheets.
  • 5 bake 8-10 minutes or until set but do not over bake!
  • 6 remove from cookie sheets and cool on rack. store in airtight container as soon as they are at room temperature.

Vanilla Ice Cream (with Cookies N' Cream Variation)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups soymilk
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 1 cup sugar (probably could be reduced to 3/4 cup)
  • 2 tablespoons arrowroot
  • 15 ounces coconut milk, stored in a cool place
  • soy coffee creamer or soymilk

Recipe

  • 1 place soy milk in a saucepan over medium heat. slit vanilla bean down the middle and scrape out the insides into the soy milk. add the bean as well and simmer for about 20 mins (i don't think any longer will add any more vanilla flavour).
  • 2 after 20 mins the milk will have reduced by about 1/2 cup. measure and bring liquid back to 2 cups. add sugar and bring to steaming over medium heat.
  • 3 while soy milk is heating back up, skim coconut cream from the coconut milk and add enough soy creamer (or milk) to bring the volume to 2 cups. whisk smooth, then take about 1/2 cup of the mixture and mix with the arrowroot, making sure it is totally dissolved.
  • 4 cheaper version.
  • 5 replace vanilla bean with 2 tsp vanilla extract (the real stuff). skip steps 1 and 2, and add the vanilla at the end with the coconut cream.
  • 6 cookies n' cream variation.
  • 7 crumble 12 chocolate sandwich cookies and add to mixture during the final three to four turns of the machine. you can probably get away with reducing the vanilla to 1 tsp, too.
  • 8 when the milk is steaming, slowly whisk in arrowroot mixture and cook, whisking constantly, until mixture is thick and glossy. whisk in coconut mixture. it should still be glossy--if not, cook until it is.
  • 9 remove from heat and let cool. when cool, remove vanilla bean, cover, and refrigerate overnight.
  • 10 make ice cream according to the directions that came with your maker.

Vanilla Damson/plum Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 50 g demerara sugar (1/4 cup)
  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 150 g prepared vanilla pudding (i used soy vanilla pudding)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 175 g flour
  • 50 g potato starch
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 500 g damsons (1 lb) or 500 g plums, cleaned and quartered (1 lb)
  • 50 g biscuits, crushed (e.g. tea biscuits, sugar cookies or try amarettini)

Recipe

  • 1 combine eggs, sugars and salt in a big bowl. with your electric mixer cream this for 8 minutes. do not skip this step, it is important to cream for at least 8 minutes!
  • 2 stir in oil, pudding and vanilla extract.
  • 3 in a second bowl combine flour, starch and baking powder. fold into the wet ingredients.
  • 4 pour dough into a greased 10 inch spring-form pan. this will look a little skimpy, but the dough will double during baking.
  • 5 arrange the quartered damsons on top of the dough in concentric circles. sprinkle with the crushed cookies.
  • 6 bake in the pre-heated oven at 160°c/320°f on the second lowest rack for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
  • 7 serve with whipped cream or ice-cream. :).

  • 3 cups sweet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons flour

  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups crushed corn flakes

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 325 degrees. spray baking sheet with non-stick spray.
  • 2 in a large bowl place: sweet potatoes, margarine, brown sugar, pecans, vanilla, flour and cinnamon. mix well.
  • 3 beat in the egg.
  • 4 form mixture into bite sized balls.
  • 5 roll balls in crushed corn flakes.
  • 6 place sweet potato balls on cookie sheet.

  • 1 lb light brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups walnuts, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups pecans, chopped
  • 1 lb red glazed cherries, and
  • green glazed cherries, halved

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees f (175 degrees c). prepare cookie sheets by lining with parchment paper. in a medium bowl, toss together the golden raisins and dark raisins with the whiskey; set aside.
  • 2 in a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. add the eggs one at a time, mix until light and fluffy.
  • 3 sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg; stir into the creamed mixture.
  • 4 stir in the walnuts, pecans, cherries, and finally, the raisin and whiskey mixture.
  • 5 drop cookies by rounded tablespoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  • 6 bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. cool on the baking sheet for 1 minute before removing to cool on wire racks.

  • 1 (3 lb) package bread mix
  • 4 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 cups soft butter
  • 3 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 cup honey
  • 4 tablespoons milk or 2 tablespoons cream
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 prepare bread & roll mix as per package, incorporating 4 tbsp of ground cinnamon. let rise until doubled in size.
  • 2 heat all of the sticky topping ingredients in a sauce pot on medium heat, mixing until the brown sugar is completely dissolved into the butter. divide and pour into two 9x13 baking pans.
  • 3 roll dough out into a rectangular shape. brush the 2 tbsp milk onto the dough, covering the entire surface. spread the filling mixture onto the dough, leaving a one-inch line across the bottom of the dough uncovered. roll like you would a jelly roll. cut into 1.5 inch thick sections and place individual rolls onto the sticky topping mix. bake for 30 minutes at 350°f until they are golden brown and the topping is bubbling.
  • 4 turn finished buns out of the pans onto a cooling rack (be sure to place a towel or wax paper underneath to catch the drippings) or onto two 9x13 cookie sheets while still hot. let cool until desired temperature is reached and enjoy!

  • 1 place 2 large scoops of ice cream in the bottom of each of four 8-ounce glasses.

Spicy Stuffed Mushrooms

  • 15 -20 large stuffing mushroom caps
  • 1 bunch green onion
  • 1 lb hot sausage
  • 1 -2 serrano chili
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • olive oil
  • grated cheddar cheese

Recipe

  • 1 wash and de-stem mushrooms. set aside to dry.
  • 2 chop green onion.
  • 3 mince chili's.
  • 4 add green onion and chilies to sausage. heat through till onion wilts.
  • 5 add cream cheese and stir over low heat till melted and mixed well.
  • 6 place mushroom caps on cookie sheet and lightly drizzle with olive oil. mound stuffing in caps and top with a little grated cheddar cheese.
  • 7 bake at 350°f for about 15 to 20 minutes, till cheese is melted and mushrooms are heated through.

Vanilla Frosting For Cutout Cookies

Texas Land And Cattle-style Stuffed Jalapenos

  • 12 fresh jalapeno peppers
  • 1 1/2 cups mexican blend shredded cheese
  • 4 slices bacon, fully cooked and crumbled
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • butter flavored cooking spray

Recipe

  • 1 preparation: preheat oven to 425 degrees. wearing gloves, slice peppers in half horizontally,completely remove seeds and ribs; set aside. combine the cheese and the crumbled bacon in a small bowl; set aside. put the panko in a low-sided dish. coat a cookie sheet (preferably stoneware) with cooking spray.
  • 2 assembly: in assembly-line style, arrange the peppers, cheese & bacon mixture and panko. spray the inside of each pepper, then stuff with about a tablespoon of the cheese mixture, then lightly spray the entire jalapeno again. place in the panko, press lightly to help crumbs adhere. place on cookie sheet. combine any leftover cheese mixture with leftover panko and sprinkle over peppers on the cookie sheet. spray lightly with cooking spray. bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

  • 1 cup water

Recipe

  • 1 mix all ingredients together except water together.
  • 2 mix water in a little at a time.
  • 3 knead dough 7-10 minutes.
  • 4 roll out dough and cut into shapes.
  • 5 allow to air dry or bake at 325 on a foiled cookie sheet.
  • 6 for each 1/4 inch of thickness, cook for 1/2 hour.
  • 7 allow to cool and decorate as desired.
  • 8 store dough in plastic bag.

Sweet Potato Casserole With Gingersnap Streusel

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 5 lbs sweet potatoes, cut into chunks
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt, divided, plus more for boiling potatoes
  • 15 -20 gingersnap cookies, coarsely broken
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, cut into bits
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs

Recipe

  • 1 coat a 9 by 13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • 2 place potatoes in a large pot, cover with water, and add a pinch of salt. bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until potatoes are very tender, about 15 minutes. drain and set aside to cool.
  • 3 meanwhile, make the topping. put the gingersnaps, flour, sugar, and 1/4 tsp salt in a food processor; pulse once or twice to combine. add the butter and pulse a few more times. (the cookies should still be in small chunks).

  • 1 combin sugar, corn syrup, salt, and water in a 2 quart pan.
  • 2 cook over medium high heat, stirring constantly till suagr dissovles.
  • 3 heat mixture without stirring, until it reaches a hard boil stage. about 260*.
  • 4 remove from heat, mix in remaining ingredients.
  • 5 cover a cookie sheet with tin foil, lightly spray pam on it, and pour the taffy onto the cookie sheet.

  • 3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 2 -3 tablespoons half-and-half
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1 heat oven to 375°f; spray cookie sheet with nonstick cooking spray. in large bowl, combine quick bread mix, swirl mix from packet and pecans from foil packet; mix well. add butter; with pastry blender or fork, mix until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. add 1 teaspoon vanilla and egg; mix well. stir in 1/2 cup coconut. gradually add half-and-half, stirring until soft dough forms.

  • 1 preheat oven to 200°f line a sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside. place almonds in a single layer in a dry skillet, and turn heat to medium. toast, stirring occasionally, until amonds are fragrant (about 2 minutes).

  • 5 divide chilled dough into 4 equal parts, refrigerating each part until ready to use.
  • 6 roll each section into a 9-inch circle on a lightly floured surface.
  • 7 sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar; cut each circle into 12 wedges.
  • 8 spread a heaping teaspoon of prepared meringue on each wedge, roll up each wedge, beginning at wide end.
  • 9 place on baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until pale golden brown.
  • 10 transfer to wire racks to cool.
  • 11 sprinkle cookies with remaining powdered sugar when cool.

Sweet Potato/carrot Dog Treats

Ingredients

  • 5 lbs wheat flour
  • 3 lbs fresh sweet potatoes
  • 2 lbs carrots
  • 3 large eggs
  • 6 cups dry oatmeal
  • 3 tablespoons acid blend

Recipe

  • 1 cut sweet potatoes and carrot into chunks, leave peels on.
  • 2 cook in 8 cups water until tender.
  • 3 process vegetables in food processer until pureed, using cooking water as needed.
  • 4 on last puree, add whole raw eggs with shells.
  • 5 pour mixture into clean dishpan, add sorbic acid and stir thoroughly.
  • 6 add dry oatmeal and stir until blended. let sit for 20 minutes.
  • 7 add flour in 4 cup increments , blending with spoon after each addition.
  • 8 near end will have to mix by hand.
  • 9 place dough in refrigerator for 2 hours.
  • 10 roll dough on flured surface to a 1/8" thickness, cut into desired shapes.
  • 11 bake cookies on cookie sheet at 325 degrees for 30 minutes, turn and bake for additional 30 minutes.
  • 12 let cool --
  • 13 store in ziploc bags.
  • 14 may refrigerate or freeze if desired.
