Three Layer Peanut Butter Bars

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 25 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 1 (14 ounce) can condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 ounces chow mein noodles
  • 1 cup peanuts, coarsely chopped

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350º. in medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and baking soda; cut in margarine and 1 teaspoon vanilla until crumbly.
  • 2 press firmly on bottom of ungreased 13x9-inch baking pan.
  • 3 bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees or until lightly browned.
  • 4 top evenly with marshmallows; bake 2 minutes longer or until marshmallows begin to puff.
  • 5 remove from oven; cool.
  • 6 while layers are baking, in heavy saucepan, over medium heat, combine condensed milk and peanut butter ; cook and stir until slightly thickened, 6 to 8 minutes.
  • 7 remove from heat; stir in noodles, nuts and remaining 2 teaspoons vanilla. spread evenly over marshmallows.
  • 8 cool. chill. cut into bars.
