Ruth's Peanut Butter Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 3/4 cups flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350*f.
- 2 cream together the peanut butter and shortening.
- 3 add both sugars and cream together until smooth.
- 4 add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
- 5 sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt together and then add to the creamed mixgture.
- 6 drop by walnut sized balls unto ungreased baking sheets.
- 7 press with a fork in a criss-cross pattern.
- 8 bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- 9 cool in pan for 5 minutes before removing to a rack to cool completely.
- 10 store in an airtight container. these also freeze very well.
