Ruth's Peanut Butter Cookies

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 3/4 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350*f.
  • 2 cream together the peanut butter and shortening.
  • 3 add both sugars and cream together until smooth.
  • 4 add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
  • 5 sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt together and then add to the creamed mixgture.
  • 6 drop by walnut sized balls unto ungreased baking sheets.
  • 7 press with a fork in a criss-cross pattern.
  • 8 bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  • 9 cool in pan for 5 minutes before removing to a rack to cool completely.
  • 10 store in an airtight container. these also freeze very well.
