Chocolate Peppermint Cookies

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup crisco golden all- vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup crushed peppermint candy canes or 1/4 cup peppermint candy

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°f line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
  • 2 beat shortening, brown sugar, granulated sugar, milk and vanilla in large bowl of electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. beat in egg.
  • 3 combine flour, salt and baking soda. mix into shortening mixture at low speed just until blended. stir in chocolate chips. shape into 1-inch balls. place 2-inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
  • 4 bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. do not overbake. immediately sprinkle with about 1/4 teaspoons crushed candy. cool 2 minutes. remove to wire rack to cool completely.
