Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookie

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 grease a baking sheet or use a baking stone.
  • 3 grind rolled oats in a blender or food processor, then transfer to a medium bowl.
  • 4 add in flour, baking soda and salt; mix to combine.
  • 5 in a separate bowl beat butter until fluffy.
  • 6 add in applesauce, both sugars, egg, and vanilla extract; beat until smooth and creamy.
  • 7 add in dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
  • 8 add in chocolate chips.
  • 9 drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet.
  • 10 bake (one sheet at a time) until firm around the edges and golden on top (about 12-15 minutes).
  • 11 cool cookies for 2 minutes on sheet then remove to wire rack to cool completely.
