Wheat Sweets

Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour (graham)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 8 ounces butter
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 5 tablespoons water (add another tablespoon if needed)
- 2 cups sifted powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla (add another 1/2 teaspoon if needed)
- 2 tablespoons soft butter
- 1 tablespoon milk (add another 2 tablespoons if needed)
Recipe
- 1 combine both flours, salt and baking powder and reserve.
- 2 in a separate bowl cream butter, sugar and vanilla.
- 3 blend the reserved dry ingredients into the butter mixture using a fork or pastry blender.
- 4 sprinkle the water over the mixture, stirring with a fork until the dough is moist enough to hold together.
- 5 do not use more water than necessary.
- 6 roll out to 1/8-inch thickness; cut with cookie cutters; place on greased baking sheets.
- 7 bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven 14 to 17 minutes.
- 8 cool on racks.
- 9 frost when cool.
- 10 to make the frosting: combine the powdered sugar, vanilla and butter.
- 11 blend in enough milk to reach desired consistency.
