Soft Molasses Cookies

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 1/2 teaspoons ginger
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cloves
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
Recipe
- 1 cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
- 2 beat in molasses and eggs, set aside.
- 3 mix together dry ingredients, blending well.
- 4 gradually mix flour mixture into creamed ingredients until dough is blended and smooth.
- 5 roll dough into 1 inch balls and dip in sugar.
- 6 place 2 1/2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. bake at 350 degrees for 11 minutes. do not overbake! the longer you bake them, the harder the cooled cookie will be.
- 7 store in a tightly covered container.
