Soft Molasses Cookies

Total Time: 31 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 11 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons ginger
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cloves
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

Recipe

  • 1 cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • 2 beat in molasses and eggs, set aside.
  • 3 mix together dry ingredients, blending well.
  • 4 gradually mix flour mixture into creamed ingredients until dough is blended and smooth.
  • 5 roll dough into 1 inch balls and dip in sugar.
  • 6 place 2 1/2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. bake at 350 degrees for 11 minutes. do not overbake! the longer you bake them, the harder the cooled cookie will be.
  • 7 store in a tightly covered container.
