Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 cup butter
• 2 cups sugar
• 2 eggs (beaten)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 3 1/2 cups flour
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/4-1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
• 3 drops lemon juice
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 cup buttermilk

Recipe

• 1 cream together butter and sugar.
• 2 add- eggs and vanilla.
• 3 sift together and add to wet ingredients 2 1/2 cups flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and few drops of lemon juice.
• 4 stir baking soda into buttermilk and add to mixture. stir in the last cup of flour.
• 5 chill overnight. roll out (1/4 to 1/2 thickness) on floured board. cut into desired shapes. sprinkle with sugar if you don't plan to ice them. bake 8 to 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
