Thimble Cookies (christmas Cookies)

Ingredients
- 1 lb butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 4 cups flour
- 1 cup walnuts
- jam or jelly
Recipe
- 1 mix flour and sugar together; add vanilla, egg yolks and butter.
- 2 mix well; roll into a large ball.
- 3 save the egg whites in a small bowl.
- 4 crush the walnuts as fine as you can.
- 5 roll dough into small balls (about a heaping tablespoon full.
- 6 roll these small balls in the egg whites.
- 7 then roll them in the crushed walnuts.
- 8 place on greased cookie sheet.
- 9 poke a hole in the middle about half way through with a thimble, or something around the same size.
- 10 place in the oven at 350°f for 7 minutes, then repoke the hole.
- 11 place back in the oven for 7 more minutes or until golden brown.
- 12 then fill in the hole with jam or jelly.
- 13 let cool.
