Whole Wheat Biscuits

Ingredients

- 2 cups soft whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg, plus enough yogurt to make 2/3 cup
- 1/3 cup melted butter or 1/3 cup oil
Recipe
- 1 sift the dry ingredients into a bowl.
- 2 make a well in the center.
- 3 pour the combined beaten egg and yogurt into the well, along with the melted butter or oil.
- 4 stir until minimally combined.
- 5 turn out the dough on a floured surface, and knead briefly until it is uniform and smooth.
- 6 the dough should be soft and moist.
- 7 roll or pat the dough until it is about 1/3" thick.
- 8 cut into your favorite shapes.
- 9 place on a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake in a preheated 450 degree f oven for about 10 minutes.
- 10 for variation, you can add herbs, cheese, spices or sugar to the dough to create your own special biscuits.
