Whole Wheat Biscuits

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 2 cups soft whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg, plus enough yogurt to make 2/3 cup
  • 1/3 cup melted butter or 1/3 cup oil

Recipe

  • 1 sift the dry ingredients into a bowl.
  • 2 make a well in the center.
  • 3 pour the combined beaten egg and yogurt into the well, along with the melted butter or oil.
  • 4 stir until minimally combined.
  • 5 turn out the dough on a floured surface, and knead briefly until it is uniform and smooth.
  • 6 the dough should be soft and moist.
  • 7 roll or pat the dough until it is about 1/3" thick.
  • 8 cut into your favorite shapes.
  • 9 place on a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake in a preheated 450 degree f oven for about 10 minutes.
  • 10 for variation, you can add herbs, cheese, spices or sugar to the dough to create your own special biscuits.
