Sunflower Seed Rolls

Total Time: 3 hrs 30 mins Preparation Time: 3 hrs Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups rye flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 teaspoons yeast
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 2/3 cups water, divided
  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 4 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 4 tablespoons flax seeds, soaked overnight

Recipe

  • 1 mix flours and salt together.
  • 2 proof yeast with honey in 1/4 cup warm water.
  • 3 add the yeast and the rest of the water to flour.
  • 4 knead for 10 minutes.
  • 5 knead in the seeds.
  • 6 let rise until doubled; cover with damp cloth; put in greased bowl; punch down; shape into 12 buns.
  • 7 brush tops with water.
  • 8 place on a greased cookie sheet .
  • 9 slice tops, cover, and let rise.
  • 10 brush tops with milk.
  • 11 bake at 350 degrees fahrenheit for 30 minutes or golden brown; the higher the temperature, the crispier the crust.
