Sugar Cookies

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 25 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 5 egg yolks

Recipe

  • 1 sift the first 4 ingredients together and set aside.
  • 2 cream butter and extracts together until soft. add sugar gradually cream until fluffy. if you don't have lemon extract, you can substitute for lemon juice instead.
  • 3 add egg yolks one at a time beating after each addition.
  • 4 add dry ingredients in fourths into the creamed mixture. beat just until blended after each addition.
  • 5 form dough into balls about 1 inch in diameter. i found it is better to chill the dough for about 15 min before rolling balls and keep the dough in the fridge when you are not cooking them. place about 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet.
  • 6 bake at 350 for about 10 minutes.
