Chocolate Holiday Cookies

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup butter, softened
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
• 6 (1 ounce) chocolate baking squares, coarsely chopped
• 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Recipe

• 1 1. in a large bowl, cream the butter, shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. beat in egg and extract. combine the dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. stir in the chocolate and pecans.
• 2 2. drop by the rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets. bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. remove to wire racks to cool.
