ginger cream cookies

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Recipe

  • cream the shortening, sugar, egg, molasses and water. mix in the flour, salt, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. cover and chill for 1 hour.
  • preheat oven to 400 degrees f (205 degrees c).
  • drop teaspoonfuls of dough ungreased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart. bake for about 8 minutes.
